About Gemly

Gemly is a Chrome extension that lets you use Google Gemini on any text, anywhere in your browser. Select text, right-click, and pick an action — summarize, rephrase, explain, translate, or run your own custom prompts. Results show up right next to your content in a side panel.

No new tabs. No copy-pasting. No context switching. Just highlight and go.

Why I built this

Hey, I'm Bikal. I love coding and I use Google Gemini all the time — for research, writing, understanding dense articles, and satisfying my general curiosity about everything. But the workflow always annoyed me: copy text, open Gemini in a new tab, paste it, type my prompt, wait, then go back to what I was doing.

I wanted Gemini to just be there, right where I'm already reading. So I built Gemly. It started as a quick hack for myself — a right-click menu that sends selected text to Gemini and shows the response in a side panel. No tab switching, no copy-paste, no friction.

It turned out to be genuinely useful. So I polished it up, added custom actions, a floating toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, and put it out there. Gemly is built by one person, for people who just want to use AI faster without leaving what they're doing.
